Red Funnel Shares Isle Of Wight Festival Travel Update

Red Funnel has said it is 'business as normal' as the Isle of Wight Festival prepares to get underway.

The Isle of Wight Festival is returning once again this weekend (September 16-19) and is kicking off the summer festival season with an all-star line-up of music icons.

In the run up to the event, Red Funnel, one of the Isle of Wight Festival’s official travel partners, continues to offer rates on trips from Southampton to East Cowes for those travelling to the Island over the weekend.

Flexible Hi-Speed passenger-only return tickets are also valid, while passengers travelling on foot can choose to travel to East or West Cowes, providing options.

Southern Vectis is once again this year providing festival shuttle buses to take passengers to the festival campsite. For campers, there is also a River Shuttle Service available, which operates from East and West Cowes to Island Harbour – just 850 yards from the campsite entrance. The journey by water takes just 20 minutes and return tickets are available to purchase from Red Funnel’s Isle of Wight terminals on arrival.

Fran Collins, Chief Executive of Red Funnel, said:

“We’re absolutely thrilled to see the Isle of Wight Festival return for 2021. Connecting people to the action is something that we look forward to every year and our teams are committed to making sure festival-goers have the very best and safest experience, which starts from the moment they arrive at our terminals.

“Whether you’re visiting this year’s festival by vehicle or by foot, we have frequent sailings and shuttle buses as well as deals available to help you see your favourite performers and enjoy all the many other fun things to see and do at one of the Island’s biggest annual events.”

Leanna Lakes, Operations Director at Red Funnel, said:

“We are checking in passengers as normal. Over the festival weekend we have a full travel and traffic management plan in place to make sure travel to the island is as easy as possible for visitors to access and minimises impact for local residents.

“We have worked closely with Island and Southampton local stakeholders including local councils, port authorities, emergency services and event organisers. Additional measures in place include extra team members at our terminals, road diversions for local traffic in both Southampton and the Isle of Wight and VMS signage."
