The Isle of Wight Met Service has issued a Red Warning for tomorrow (Friday).
Storm force winds of up to 100mph are expected from 8am, with a significant risk of accident or injury as well as risk to life and property due to the very dangerous conditions.
IW Met Service advice says:
"It is advisable to take the correct action to protect yourself and others from the severe conditions, and if possible to follow advice given on national and local broadcasts."
Power cuts and severe travel disruptions are also deemed very likely.

South-westerly wind gusts of 70-100mph are possible almost anywhere across the Island, gusting highest in more exposed parts of the south and west, with the coast and downs likely to see the strongest gusts over all along with the Needles and Freshwater potentially seeing the strongest gusts.
Impacts and effects
- Possible structural damage to buildings, especially in more exposed areas
- Falling tree debris such as twigs, branches and perhaps even a few downed trees in places
- Very large waves around exposed coasts with wave heights in excess of five metres along with sudden wave “surges” where two or more waves combine, giving a sweeping affect which will be exceptionally hazardous to beach walkers
- Significant travel and transport disruption likely, especially to cross Solent.
Isle of Wight Police said:
"There will be damage to property, trees and local infrastructure.
"There is a real risk to life and I would advise not travelling and making sure everything in your garden is secure and pets are kept in doors. Keep away from coastal areas, do not go on the beach or anywhere near the sea.
"If we prepare for the worst case scenario we will maximise the safety to your property and your well-being.
"If your area floods then please prepare for this as it is likely to happen. Power cuts are likely, please ensure that you have other light sources available and items to wrap up warm if you have no heating.
"Do you have elderly or vulnerable neighbours? Please check and ask if they have everything they need and that items in their garden are secure.
"Should you find yourself needing urgent assistance, please call 999 and the right service will be notified and we will get to you."
