A man from Ryde is in police custody, following an incident involving a knife in Melville Street last night (Saturday).
As previously reported by Isle of Wight Radio, police descended on Melville Street shortly after 6pm last night. Southern Vectis had to re-route some of its buses.
A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said"
"At 6.16pm on Saturday, 13 August officers were called to an incident on Melville Street.
"It was reported that a man, with a knife, was shouting in the street.
"A 59-year-old man from Ryde was arrested on suspicion of affray and is currently in police custody."
