Revealed: Isle Of Wight Locations Affected By Sewage Releases

Southern Water (C).

A number of Isle of Wight beaches have been affected by sewage releases, caused by heavy rainfall overnight.

In the last 24 hours, 11 sites across the Island have seen releases from combined sewer overflows.

Islanders are warned not to swim or bathe in these areas due to poor water quality.

Ventnor, Shanklin, Sandown, Yaverland, Whitecliff Bay, Bembridge, Seagrove, St Helens and Ryde have been affected.

All areas have been listed as red, which means there has been a sewage release in the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, the Environment Agency is advising against swimming off Gurnard, Ryde, Seagrove, Bembridge, Sandown and Shanklin

Several Isle of Wight towns have been hit by bad weather overnight.

Roads are now starting to reopen following yesterday's deluge, as Isle of Wight Radio reported earlier.
