Motorcyclist Remains In Hospital After Crashing Into Tree In Bembridge

A motorcyclist remains in hospital this morning after crashing into a tree in Bembridge last night (Tuesday).

Paramedic, fire and police were called to the scene on Sandown Road at around 7.30pm.

The rider was left in the care of the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service after being assisted by a fire crew from Sandown.

A spokesperson for the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said:

"We were called at 7.31pm to Sandown Road following a report of a motorcycle in collision with a tree.

"The driver sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital where he remains at this time."

A spokesperson for the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire Service added:

"On-call firefighters from Sandown were alerted to a road-traffic-collision involving a motorbike on Sandown Road in Bembridge yesterday evening. 

"The crew provided immediate emergency care to the injured motorcyclist, before making the scene safe, clearing leaked fuel from the road. 

"The casualty was passed into the care of Isle of Wight Ambulance Service paramedics before firefighters returned to station shortly after 8pm."
