Rise In Isle Of Wight COVID-19 Cases

Another 57 cases of coronavirus have been recorded on the Isle of Wight.

Today's (Friday's) daily figures have been published. They are up on yesterday's (Thursday's) total of 16.

The Island's Director for Public Health says case numbers on the Island are "expected" to rise on the Island as community testing increases.

The Isle of Wight's rolling coronavirus rate continues to remain below the national average, however.

As of today, the Island's rolling rate, per 100,000, stands at 117.1. The UK average is 177.5.

The seven-day rolling rate is used to measure patterns or trends in the Government's coronavirus figures.

Of the 6,520 positive results recorded on the Island since the start of the pandemic, 4,539 came last month (January).

Since the start of the pandemic, coronavirus has been mentioned on the death certificates of 229 Islanders.
