Several of the Island's key routes are being affected by surface water this morning, with some 'flooded', as heavy rain continues to battle the South Coast.
Isle of Wight Radio listeners report that the main road between Ventnor and Whitwell is under several inches of water, with drivers reportedly having to 'ford' through sections of the route.
Southern Vectis is diverting buses due to the severity of the flooding.

Buses will now divert from Godshill via Shanklin & Bonchurch to reach Ventnor until further notice. This diversions will operate in both directions
There is a change of service on the 6 because of bad weather. The road between Whitwell & Ventnor is extremely dangerous. . Buses to divert via Whitwell narrows to Godshill. Passeegrs for Ventnor will need to transfer to Route 3 buses in Godshill. This operates in both directions

Nearby Southford Lane, linking Newport Road with Whitwell Road is also said to be extremely flooded.
Elsewhere, listeners report issues in the approaches to Brading and in areas of Rookley.

Motorists are advised to avoid these routes, and not to drive through flooded sections.
More heavy rain is forecast by the MetOffice for this afternoon and this evening.

Listeners report a large amount of surface water on the roads between Shalfleet and Ningwood.
UPDATED 12.43pm:
The road between Whitwell and Ventnor is now said to be impassable, with around 8 inches of surface water now reportedly present.
