Robin Hill Hosts Popular Christmas Drive In Cinema Courtesy Of Wessex

Some of the films on show this December

Wessex Cancer Trust's popular drive-in Christmas cinema is set to make a come back this December.

Tickets have been released for Drive-in Films for Christmas, which will feature six epic festive films screened over two days to raise money for Wessex Cancer Trust.

Like for many organisations, this year has been considered a write-off, with coronavirus cancelling fundraising events and forcing charity shops to close.

However, the festive fun will return to Robin Hill, with screens being aired on a giant LED screen and the soundtrack played through each car radio.

When will the films be screened?

Saturday 5 December

Frozen, Elf and The Holiday.

Sunday 6 December

The Polar Express, How The Grinch Stole Christmas and Love Actually.

Community Engagement Manager Lorraine White said:

“After the year we’ve all had, we thought Islanders could do with something to look forward to and what better way to welcome Christmas
than with a weekend of festive films?

“From family favourites to classic Christmas rom coms, we will be showing them all on a giant LED screen in the car park at Robin Hill.

“Grab your hot snacks and drinks on site before snuggling down in the comfort and safety of your own car with your family and favourite festive film.

“It’s been a tough year for everyone, Wessex Cancer Trust included, so please show your support for our first real event since lockdown and let’s get Christmas 2020 started in style.”

The event will take place with Covid-19 restrictions and social-distancing rules in place.

Tickets for each screening are limited and are available at www.wessexcancer.org.uk/drive-in-2020.

The suggested donation is £25 per car.

All money raised will help Wessex Cancer Trust support Islanders affected by cancer. If you’re interested in advertising your business or Christmas event on the big screen at the event, contact [email protected].
