A Ryde man has been charged in connection with an immigration incident, which saw 12 suspected migrants arrive in East Cowes on a yacht.
Robbie Hounsham, of Ashey Road, has been charged with conspiracy to facilitate the unlawful entry and/or attempted entry into the UK of non-EU citizens.
The incident is said to have happened between January 1 2020 and June 30 2020.
The 54-year-old was charged via postal requisition yesterday (Wednesday), the South East Regional Organised Crime Unit (SEROCU) said.
The charge is in connection with an incident in which a yacht returned to East Cowes Marina on March 19 2020 with 12 additional people on board who were suspected of being migrants entering the UK illegally.
Mr Hounsham is due to appear at Newport Magistrates’ Court on November 29.
