Search For Missing Gillian Enters Second Day As Conditions Worsen

The search for missing Bembridge woman is continuing into its second day as weather conditions at the coast worsen today (Tuesday).

As previously reported by Isle of Wight Radio, 64-year-old Gillian Burns was last seen at her home in Bembridge at approximately 10pm on Sunday evening.

Searches got underway for her yesterday morning - with Coastguard and Police officers joined by WightSAR.

Initial investigations began in an area around Gillian's home address, before extending towards the Culver Down area. A bicycle, believed to belong to her, was later discovered.

Despite searches lasting much of the day yesterday, no sign of Ms Burns has yet been found.

Teams have once again headed out to the Culver and Yaverland areas this morning to continue searching despite adverse weather conditions and winds of upto 50mph.

Officers at the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary say search efforts have now been stood down following the discovery of a body.
