Some students and staff at Broadlea Primary are self-isolating after a second case of coronavirus was confirmed at the school.
The Isle of Wight Council has confirmed a Year 5 and 6 class bubble - and three staff members - are self-isolating as a "precautionary measure".
The individuals in question will not return until Thursday November 26.
“All of those that need to self-isolate have been informed, and the school remains safe and open for all other children and staff. Maintaining the education of these children is an absolute priority and they will receive high quality home learning throughout this period."
Sharon Freeley, Headteacher of the Sandown school, said:
“We remain absolutely committed to the health, safety and wellbeing of our whole school community and we will carry on working closely with Public Health England to ensure we are taking all the necessary precautions.”
It is the second case to have been confirmed at the school. The first was confirmed yesterday (Thursday), but there was no need to for pupils to self-isolate then.
Isle of Wight Radio has put together an interactive map, detailing how many schools have now had cases.
What to do if your child develops symptoms of COVID 19?
If your child develops symptoms of COVID-19, they must not come to school and should remain at home for at least 10 days from the date when their symptoms appeared.
Anyone with symptoms will be eligible for testing and this can be arranged via https://www.nhs.uk/ask-for-a-coronavirus-test or by calling 119.
All other household members who remain well, must stay at home and not leave the house for 14 days.
This includes anyone in your ‘Support Bubble’.
