Shanklin FC And VYCC Recognised Among UK's Best Community Projects With Coveted Green Flag Award

In a record-breaking year Shanklin Football Club and Voluntary Youth & Community Centre is raising its prestigious Green Flag Award.

Today, Shanklin FC and VYCC is celebrating after being presented the prestigious Green Flag Award for maintaining locations around Shanklin, with partner organisations, by the Island’s High Sheriff, Graham Biss BEM and Lake Parish Chair Paul Brading; with Shanklin FC’s John Shannon and Shanklin VYCC’s Paul Harris collecting the flag.

Graham said:

"The news that Shanklin FC and VYCC has achieved the accreditation — the international quality mark for parks and green spaces - is testament to the hard work and dedication of the team that care for the green space so that everyone can enjoy it."

Paul added:

“Shanklin FC and VYCC looks after vital green spaces for the community in Shanklin, bringing people together and providing opportunities to lead healthy lifestyles.

"The staff and volunteers do so much to ensure that it maintains the high standards of the Green Flag Award and everyone involved should feel extremely proud of their achievement.”
