
A Shanklin man remains in custody this morning (Friday) after police were called to a concern for welfare last night.
Officers attended an address in Shanklin's St John's Road shortly after 6.30pm, subsequently arresting a man on suspicion of possessing an imitation firearm and a knife.
A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said:
"We were called at 6.32pm to St John's Road following a report of a concern for welfare of a man.
"Police attended and a 43-year-old man from Shanklin was arrested on suspicion of possessing an imitation firearm and a bladed article in a public place.
"He remains in custody."
