'Social Distancing Markers' Painted In Cowes High Street

Social distancing markers have been painted in Cowes High Street as the Isle of Wight Council prepares for the reopening of shops.

Similar measures have already been put in place in Newport High Street, as Isle of Wight Radio previously reported

The council hopes to have a similar scheme up and running in Ryde for 15 June. That is the date the Government says non-essential shops can reopen.

In Cowes, shoppers will now be able to see white dots painted on pavements to indicate two-metre social distancing.

Red squares with the message — 'COVID-19 - Stay 2m apart' — have also been stencilled every 14 metres in the busiest shopping areas.

While, signs have been attached to lampposts, with the message 'Keep your distance' and 'Maintain social distance'.
