The deadline for entries to the 50th Isle of Wight Sports Achievement Awards has been extended by one week — until Sunday, January 12.
The organisers have already received a number of top-quality entries but, knowing the high level of sporting performance in 2024 across all sports on the Island, they have given clubs another week to get their entries in.
Claire Beasley, chair of the IW Sports Foundation, which organises the awards, says she is keen that the 50th anniversary awards are as representative as possible of sport on the Isle of Wight.
Claire said:
“Come on sports clubs! Get those entries in so we can choose from the widest possible selection.”
She added that she would like to see more nominations in all categories but in particular in: club official, coach, all disability ages, masters men and senior women, as well as in all team age groups.
The judges will sit down to choose the winners later this month and the 50th awards evening, which will be held at Medina Theatre, is on Thursday, March 27.
WRS Systems has been announced as the headline sponsor of this year’s awards.
