Squally Showers Today, Showery Rain Tomorrow - Strong Winds Throughout

The Isle of Wight Met Service is forecasting heavy squally showers today with a hail and thunder risk, as the inclement January weather continues towards the end of the month.

The IW Met Service says 80mph gusts are possible around the heaviest showers.

During the day, strong winds will be accompanied by occasional bouts of sunshine and regular showers.

Some of the showers are likely to be very heavy with the risk of hail or even a rumble of thunder, accompanied by some very strong wind gusts.

Temperature: 8-10°C.
Wind: 28-45mph becoming 34-56mph but with gusts as high as 70-80mph around the heaviest showers.
Rainfall: 2-6mm with locally variable amounts.

Tonight

Further heavy showers through the evening and night, still with the risk of some hail mixed in along with strong and gusty winds.

Temperature: 7-9°C rising later.
Wind: south-southwest 34-58mph, gusting as high as 70-80mph around the heaviest showers but becoming southwest 26-38mph by dawn.
Rainfall: 3-8mm with locally variable amounts.

Tomorrow

A lot of cloud around with showery rain at times.

Temperature: 9-10°C.
Wind: west 28-45mph becoming 22-34mph later.
Rainfall: 2-5mm.
