Storm Claudio: List Of Fallen Trees, Road Closures And Debris Across The Isle Of Wight

Island Roads was called out to more than 20 fallen trees overnight as Storm Claudio wreaked havoc on across the Isle of Wight.

These were, in the majority, fallen or dangerous trees affecting the highway, although other reports included a full-size trampoline blowing about in the highway at Pixley Hill and a collapsed private wall in St Helen’s Mill Road.

An Island Roads spokesman said:

“It was a very busy night with high winds causing many highway issues particularly in the northern half of the Island.

“More than 100 calls were made to the hub between 7pm on Monday and 7am today and we continue to respond to incidents as they come in.

“We would remind motorists to take additional care when driving in these conditions.”
