Strong Winds And Heavy Rain Leads To Isle Of Wight Weather Warning

The Isle of Wight is set to endure strong winds and heavy rain, leading to a weather warning being issued.

Gales and rain showers are set to hit the Island later today (Monday) and tomorrow.

The IW Met Service has issued a Yellow Weather Warning, while the Met Service has issued a warning for strongs tomorrow.

Today (Monday)

A mostly fine morning with good sunny spells and feeling rather warm in the sunshine. As we move into the afternoon we will see increasing amounts of cloud along with bands of showers, the first of which is likely to push through between 1pm and 5pm followed by a fairly short drier interlude with just the odd shower, then further bands of showers are likely to move through from around 7pm or 8pm, some of which will be heavy at times.

  • Temperature 15-17.C
  • Wind south-southeast
  • 17-28mph becoming southeast 21-35mph later
  • Rainfall 1-5mm with highly localised amounts

Tonight

Further showery bands of rain moving through, some of which are still likely to be heavy at times, although towards dawn we will see some cloud breaks developing along with occasional showers. It will become very windy after midnight, with gales or severe gales in places.

  • Temperature 13-15°C
  • Wind south 26-48mph becoming west-southwest 38-68mph from midnight but easing slightly towards dawn at 29-52mph

Tomorrow (Tuesday)

A day of occasional bright or sunny spells along with frequent, heavy showers, perhaps with hail and thunder in places. In and around the heaviest showers it will be extremely gusty.

  • Temperature 13-15°C
  • Wind southwest 28-54mph but with 70mph+ gusts around the showers
  • Rainfall 2-8mm with highly localised amounts

Meanwhile, a Met Office yellow weather warning comes into force at midnight, until 8am tomorrow.
