An Isle of Wight charity has hailed the success of its 'Box Project' - in a bid to prevent families from feeling isolated during the lockdown.
Charity South Wight Area Youth (SWAY) cooked an apple crumble from scratch with around 20 families over zoom last week.
All the in ingredients were donated by Norris Family Grocers for the pudding - which members said was nutritious and economical.
The project also hopes to show Island families how to live on a budget, whilst also eating healthily and together as a family.
Jennie Burke, Families worker said:
'The atmosphere was relaxed and it’s lovely to see everyone getting together and their confidence growing with cooking and each other as they keep in touch. We are all in this and can get through supporting each other as well as having a laugh and a joke, and good food!’
The next ‘Box Project’ takes place virtually on 12 February.
