Talks, Tales And Tails Coming To Sandown Bay's Hullabaloo

A free event across Sandown Bay is aiming to bring a blend of science, arts, education and carnival to the town next week.

The sixth annual Hullabaloo takes places across the weekend of October 15 and 16 between 10am and 4pm.

It will feature various talks, performances and activities suitable for people of all ages.

Hullabaloo Talk Tent

The Talk Tent will host a quick-fire programme of conversation, education and film to expand brains within the IW Biosphere.

There’s modern wildlife conservation imperatives and success stories, positive community initiatives, new economic thinking and arts and culture updates.

Then there’s a special concrete cookery demo, insect illustrating and tales of new Brews, Pipits and Shrews!

And for your lunchbreaks, catch up on our specially commissioned archive of films and animations.

Timetables for talks will appear online on the day!

Spinning Yarns

Isle of Wight Story-teller, Sue Bailey, has been squeezing poets, musicians, illustrators and artists into the one special space for the first ever Spinning Yarns at Hullabaloo.

She explains:

"We’re proud to present great sessions by local poets, authors and storytellers.

"It's going to be fantastic!  Polish up your ears and pull up your chairs for the weekend!"

Spinning Yarns will be taking place in the Wacky Makers Marquee — find it amongst the Cardboard motor-making, Boojum Be-Ziners and Stitch Department Sewers and Up-cyclers.

The Island Collection — We Are Island cultural conference

A day before Hullabaloo kicks off (Friday October 14), the organisers are hosting a series of talks.

The Hullabaloo crew, The Common Space, Shademakers UK and Browns will be hosting and helping to support The Island Collection’s exciting cultural conference in the Bay.

The programme, which takes place between 930am and 530pm in the Hullabaloo Talk tent, lines up visiting speakers and local organisations with the aim of celebrating culture, creativity, inspiration and prosperity on the Island.

Again it’s all free but booking is essential, with limited places left.
