
Police have this afternoon (Monday) arrested males aged 18 and 15 following a pursuit which saw one of the suspects end up in the River Medina.
More than half a dozen police vehicles attended the scene, after reports of a man trying car door handles in Royal Exchange, Newport.
A spokesperson for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary confirmed:
"We were called just after 2.30pm to a report of a man trying car door handles in Royal Exchange, Newport.
"When officers attended the suspects fled the scene on foot but were apprehended following a short pursuit.
"An 18-year-old male from Sandown and a 15-year-old male from Newport were both arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to supply Class A drugs."
