There will be a change of direction for the Isle of Wight's Green Party at the next election.
A Green Party meeting last night (Wednesday) Vix Lowthion unanimously put forward for the proposed new Isle of Wight East constituency, and Cameron Palin for the West constituency, subsequent to an online ratification vote of the full membership.
This decision is a change from the initial announcement in 2022, and a response to the final proposals from the Boundary Commission which has moved East Cowes into the West constituency.
Cllr Cameron Palin is currently the Deputy Mayor of East Cowes and this change will support his work in the town and the wider Medina area.
He is also set to take up a post with an island company in the housing sector after two years working in a local primary school.
Vix Lowthion is an experienced local campaigner and has been the national spokesperson for Education for the Green Party for the last seven years.
She has been the Green parliamentary candidate since 2015,. with her priorities for the East constituency including clean beaches, cultural and economic opportunities, and actions to tackle the cost-of-living crisis.
It is envisaged that the final online vote from local Green Party members to ratify this decision will be announced next month.
