Three people have been arrested — and a knife, a baseball bat and a metal wrench seized — after a car failed to stop in Lake.
Police were called to reports of a single vehicle collision at Morrison’s petrol station a 8.30pm last night (Thursday).
The vehicle, a BMW, then left the scene.
The car was stopped by police along New Road, Brading, and officers searching the vehicle seized a knife, a baseball bat and a metal wrench.
All occupants of the vehicle – a man in his 50s, a man in his 20s, and a woman in her 20s – were arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.
The woman was also arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and a racially aggravated public order offence, relating to incidents post-arrest.
They remain in custody at this time.
