
Three men -one in his 40s and two in their 20s - were arrested last night (Sunday) following an assault at Newport Bus Station.
Police were called shortly after 6:45pm to the bus station on Orchard Street following a public order incident involving three men.
A 41-year-old man from Sandown was arrested by attending officers on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and assault occasioning actual bodily harm. He remains in custody at this time.
Shortly afterwards two men were stopped by officers on Collingwood Road.
A 24-year-old man from Newport was arrested on suspicion of affray and remains in custody at this time.
A 23-year-old man from East Cowes was taken to hospital for treatment to an injury to his chest and has since been discharged.
He has subsequently been arrested on suspicion of affray and remains in custody at this time.
It’s believed a knife may have been involved in the incident as one was seized by officers nearby and detectives are continuing to carry out enquiries in the area to establish what happened.
