TJ's Gym Set To Downsize Training Facilities With Kickboxing Future Focus

A popular Isle of Wight gym is downsizing, due to the cost of living crisis, but its owner has revealed a plan to invest in its kickboxing future, as it is currently home to some of the sport’s champions.

Currently over two floors, TJ's Gym and Fitness Studio is to move onto a single-storey, at its premises on Sandown Road in Lake.

Owner, Steve Marsh, said it had been a difficult decision, brought on by the economic climate, but he said it would ensure the gym’s future and that of the classes run there.

Mr Marsh said he is also investing in his son, Dominic, who runs the Panthers Kickboxing Club and has ‘taken it to new levels’.

Hoping to add to the three current British Champions who train at the gym, a kickboxing ring and new flooring will enhance the ringcraft of athletes, Mr Marsh said.

TJ's moved into the building in 2016 — a space previously occupied by the Asian Fusion Restaurant Buffet.

It will now close on December 17 for refurbishment, reopening on January 13.

The gym will continue to offer classes, gym memberships, personal training and sports massage.

The ground floor will become offices for Island care company, Milford Del Support Agency.

Windows will be added to the ground floor and separate entrances will separate the two businesses.
