Bembridge Coastguard has slammed the "totally unacceptable behaviour" of vandals who are said to have damaged its aerial.
The team says it could have left them "without comms", affecting their ability to respond to a life-threatening incident.
Attempts were allegedly made to remove the cables and lightning conductor from the roof.
Police are investigating the incident.
Disappointing to find Damage caused to our VHF Aerial overnight. Looks like they were attempting to remove the cables and lightning conductor from the roof. Totally unacceptable behaviour and could have left us with limited comms. Police Crime Ref SD-6675-21-444-00 pic.twitter.com/Cb7rVbj3YU
