Tributes are being paid to former Freshwater Fire Station Commander Eddy Woodford, who has died.

Eddy is said to have "touched so many people's lives"  whilst serving with the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service for over 30 years.

His funeral will take place tomorrow (Tuesday) and the local community are being invited to pay their respects.

A cortege will pass through Freshwater tomorrow morning with Eddy’s wife Pauline and daughter Helen on board H79P1.

It will leave Edinburgh Road at 10.30am and travel down Copse Lane, Hooke Hill, then along School Green Road and Tennyson Road.

Finally, it will pause at the fire station to sound sirens one last time for Eddy.

It will then head down Avenue Road and back along School Green Road to the church, where an invitation-only service will take place.
