Tributes Paid To 'Much-Loved' Young Isle Of Wight Dancer

Tributes are being paid to a 'much-loved' Isle of Wight dancer, who has died.

Talented, Tayla Wright, was a member of the Starlight Academy on the Island, competing in many events across the country in recent years.

Tributes have been pouring in across social media by those who knew the 14-year-old Cowes Enterprise College student.

A Go Fund Me page has been set up by the Starlight Academy in memory of the popular teenager, to raise money to support her family.

Flowers and messages of condolence are also being left outside the dance studio at Newport Business Park.

Dancing friends have been posting videos and pictures of the youngster online, with the hashtag #doitfortay in her memory.

Family friend, Mary Bowdery, who runs the dance academy, told Isle of Wight Radio:

"Tayla was very special. She loved to help the younger children and assist in dance classes. She was always making people laugh. She was fearless and would always be the first to try any challenging dance moves. She had her whole life planned out and knew exactly what she wanted to do in her career."

Mary added that Tayla's organs have been donated and already saved the lives of other children.

She said:

"Tayla was always incredibly brave with everything she did. By choosing to donate her organs, Tayla has gone on to save seven young children's lives. We know she would loved that she had been able to do this."

The Go Fund Me page reads:

"As you are all aware, we have recently lost a very special young lady from our community.

"Tayla had a zest for life and such a passion for dance, we have struggled to find photos where she isn’t either being silly or in some form of dance pose.

"...Tayla was a career driven young lady, who had her whole life planned out in front of her, she wanted to go to The Urdang Academy in London to become a professional dancer, then go off and see the world dancing on cruise ships, before coming back to take over the starlight studio whether I was ready to retire or not.

"This Go Fund me is to support her family through this unimaginable time.

"Any funds left over from the funeral and celebration of life party will go to the paediatric intensive care unit at Southampton General Hospital, who her family are so very grateful for the care and love that she was given..."
