Try Out A Reading Group This National Reading Group Day

The Isle of Wight Council's Library Service will be celebrating National Reading Group Day, run by national charity The Reading Agency next month.

Ninety-four per cent of people feel more connected to other people because of being part of a reading group, and 90 per cent feel happier, so if you want to discover and talk about new books and meet new people, then the library service has you covered.

On Thursday, 12 September the service is giving residents the chance to try out a reading group to see if they like it. You can also find out more about how they can support you to start your own group or join one of their existing groups.

The reading groups are taking place at Ryde Library at 10.30am, where there will also be refreshments and the chance to chat to library staff and other readers about books and reading.

There are three titles to choose from, two in physical copies:

  • The husbands by Holly Gramazio
  • Slow Horses by Mick Herron
  • So late in the day by Claire Keegan (as an e-book through the library’s Borrowbox app, where thousands of e-books and e-audio books are available to read completely free)

If you would like to join in with one of the reading groups, then all you need to do is pop into your local council-run library and let them know, and a member of staff will get a copy of your chosen book for you and book your place.

If you would like help downloading and using the Borrowbox app, a member of staff will be happy to help.
