Two Charged After Ryde Violence Prompts Dispersal Order

Two men have been charged following an incident which prompted a large police response to Ryde on Saturday (24).

A Dispersal Order had to be issued by officers after violence near to LA Bowl, as Isle of Wight Radio first reported.

28-year-old Nino Bear Cavanagh, of Kestrel Way, Carisbrooke, has been charged with affray and using threatening/abusive/insulting words or behaviour with intent to cause fear of/provoke unlawful violence.

Scott Edward Cooper, 32, of no fixed abode, has been charged with assaulting an emergency worker and possession of a Class B drug. 

Both men appeared at Isle of Wight Magistrates Court this morning (Monday)

A 27-year-old man from Ryde, arrested on suspicion of affray and theft, and a 26-year-old man from Wootton, arrested on suspicion of affray, have been released from police custody.

No further action is being taken against them, according to the force.
