Two Isle of Wight schools are inviting children to take part in a series of creative summer projects throughout the school holidays — and there will be no cost to children eligible for free school meals.
A three week summer project at Oakfield Primary School and two week summer project at Barton Primary School will see children aged five to 16 from around the Island turn their hand to musical theatre, carnival costume making, circus skills, magic tricks, dance and drama.
The project is funded by the Department For Education and the schools are offering places to children eligible for free school meals at no cost. For children who do qualify under the scheme, the cost will be £15 a day.
All children will receive two two hour sessions of activities a day, delivered by industry professionals, as well as a hot lunch or picnic bag during the event, which will run from 10am-3pm daily.
At Oakfield Primary School, in Ryde, the summer activities will be held on 9th-12th August, 16th-19th August and 23rd- 26th August, while at Barton Primary School in Newport, it will run on 16th-20th August and 23rd-27th August.
