The Isle of Wight is set for some long-awaited warm weather this Bank Holiday Weekend.
After a torrid few weeks, and June on the horizon, the mercury finally looks set to climb.
The IW Met Service said that temperatures could reach the early to mid 20s by Sunday (30).
"Friday (28) is the start of the improvement, or at least in the temperature department because it does look like being rather cloudy. Temperatures of 14.C 15.C look likely with a few places seeing up to 16.C, and although that isn’t desperately high, it will feel rather pleasant in the light winds.
"As we move into Saturday the temperature will continue to creep upwards with highs of around 18.C to 20.C away from windward coasts. There will also be increasing amounts of sunshine and this will feel pleasantly warm in the light and variable winds.
"By Sunday things improve further with long spells of sunshine along with pleasantly warm temperatures of 20.C to 22.C. However there will be an increasing east or northeast breeze which will make it feel rather cool in more eastern and southern parts at times, although elsewhere will actually start to feel like summer has arrived!
"Monday continues with the warm and sunny theme and despite a fresh, cool easterly breeze at times in the east and south, it will feel pleasantly warm, especially in more central and western parts of the Island. Temperatures will hover around the low 20s in most parts although perhaps closer to the mid-teens on windward coasts.
"As we move towards the middle of next week there are hints that it could turn warmer still, possibly into the mid 20s although there are also hints that could start to see some thundery showers pushing up from the south, but that’s a long way off, so we will let you know more as we get closer to the time!"
