As previously reported, they arrived on the Isle of Wight last November. You access them from bays in Cowes, Ryde, Newport and East Cowes.

If the trial proves successful they will be here to stay - which has been the case for a scheme in Norwich.

More than 7000 journeys were registered on the Island in March, as previously reported and 36% of rides so far have saved a car journey.

E-scooter company Beryl has worked with the Isle of Wight Council, Solent Transport and local businesses such as Wightlink Ferries to ensure all e-Scooter parking - Beryl Bays - complement the existing social infrastructure and benefit Islanders.

Every e-Scooter has vehicle approval from the DfT and confirmation of the trial triggers legislation - meaning e-Scooters hired from the approved operator can be used in the designated trial area - on the Isle of Wight.

Isle of Wight Radio understands, one incident has occurred during the trial period, a woman visiting the Isle of Wight was charged with drink driving, as previously reported,

You can read the rules here after someone was also told NOT to travel down the dual carriageway.

Beryl says it will continue to consult with key organisations such as Isle of Wight Police and local disability groups as the trial progresses.
