Damage has been caused to the course at Shanklin and Sandown Golf Club.
Tyre marks from a bike can be seen on the green of the fifth hole at the popular club.
It's thought mindless vandals entered the 18-hole course at the weekend, before severely damaging the grass.
Barry Guy, Club Chairman, told Isle of Wight Radio:
"What goes through people's minds when they do something like this? It's mindless vandalism. It means the hole is unplayable now.
"We think it was caused by a motocross bike.
"It could cost us thousands of pounds to repair. We have good CCTV coverage, which is being handed over to the police to identify the perpetrators. The club will be taking action against those responsible."
The club remains open.
