The Isle of Wight Met Service has issued a yellow weather warning for gales this morning (Wednesday).
The warning will be in place between midnight and 4pm on Friday (March 31).
The Met Service warning says a late season winter storm will move in from the west, bringing with it severe gales and spells of heavy rain.
South-westerly winds are expected to gust to up to 70mph across the Island.
Impacts, Effects and Measures
- Falling debris such as twigs and branches
- Risk of damage to garden furniture
- Exceptionally large waves affecting the Island's western and southern coast, with beaches susceptible to large 'sneaker' waves.
- Dangerous conditions for small watercraft.
- Possible delays and cancellations to public transport, especially cross-Solent travel.
