"What Went Wrong?" Asks Isle Of Wight MP In COVID Twitter Post

The Isle of Wight's MP says he will not support mandatory coronavirus jabs and vaccine passports, if put to votes in Parliament.

Bob Seely says he would back an extension to face coverings rules, however, as well as changes to isolation and testing.

In a lengthy Twitter thread aimed at the Government, the MP raised several concerns.

He cited "too many false assurances", "too many dubious forecasts", "too many convenient leaks" and a "lack of context" for his doubts.

Mr Seely said:

"We were told vaccines were our exit. What went wrong? Where’s the planning to ensure resilience, so society can function? Why booster rollout slow? How has Gov’t increased capacity in the NHS to cope?"

He also said he's "tired of doomsday forecasts being leaked at critical moments".

And he even questioned whether the Government are "manipulating people into compliance" by releasing COVID statistics in isolation rather than in in context.

He said:

"Too many convenient leaks. Omicron ‘could’ kill 75k. ‘Could’ = might and may, but also might not and may not. I’m tired of doomsday forecasts leaked at critical moments. Please stop trying to scare us, it has undermined trust. People don’t know what or who to believe."

Another of Mr Seely's tweets asked why the Government are "disinterested" in the origins of the virus.

"The only place a bat virus in Wuhan likely came from was Wuhan lab, by leak or by Frankenstein ‘gain of function’ tests (and why did Internet giants try to silence this debate?)

"This matters at most basic level, if leaks happen, would it not be sensible to at least review global rules for storage of viruses? Are we so scared of offending China that we can’t even have this conversation?", Mr Seely said.
