The Victoria of Wight will be pulled from service after it 'crashed' this afternoon (Monday).
As FIRST reported by Isle of Wight Radio, the ferry 'crashed' as people were going back to their cars this afternoon (Monday).
431 people were onboard and 16 crew members were also on the ship.
The boat will now be pulled from service and inspected after damage was caused to the prow of the ship.
It means there will be delays and cancellations as a result.
The same boat has only just returned to service after it was pulled for a month prior to the school holidays for repairs.
A spokesperson for Wightlink told Isle of Wight Radio:
'Victoria of Wight, Wightlink’s 13:00 sailing from Portsmouth, experienced heavy berthing on arrival at Fishbourne on the Isle of Wight at 13:40.
'There were 16 crew and 431 passengers on board. While some are undoubtably shaken, there are no reports of any serious injuries.
'The vehicles on board the ferry when the incident happened have disembarked at Fishbourne.
'Victoria of Wight is returning to Portsmouth. As there is some damage to the prow of the ship, it will be withdrawn from service for inspection on arrival.
'There will be some delays to sailings this afternoon, but customers are advised to check in as normal as the other vessels will run a shuttle service.'
Another statement is expected at 4.30pm.
