Wightlink's Victoria of Wight has been withdrawn from service today (Tuesday).
The cross-Solent operator has said it is due to a mechanical issue involving one the engines.
A number of crossings between Fishbourne and Portsmouth are expected to be cancelled.
Wightlink added that booked customers will be contacted and transferred to other sailings.
