A woman in her 60s has been bitten by a Staffordshire Bull Terrier in a field in Newport.
Police were called yesterday (Saturday) afternoon to reports of a dog fight in a field near Godric Road.
A woman was taken to hospital.
Officers are investigating.
A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said:
'We were called at 1.13pm yesterday afternoon (Saturday 28 August) to a report of a dog fighting with another dog and biting its owner.
'This occurred in a field near Godric Road.
'The owner, a woman in her 60s, received injuries to her arm and has been transported to hospital for treatment.
'Her injuries are not thought to be life threatening at this time.
'The dog that bit the woman has been described as a Staffordshire Bull Terrier.
'Enquiries into this incident are ongoing.'

After clarification from Hampshire Constabulary, the following, amended, statement has been issued, it says:
"The dog in question became involved in a fight with another dog. It was the owner of this second dog who was bitten, so not the owner of the dog who caused the bite."
