Woman In 70s Dies After Crashing Into Several Parked Vehicles In Carisbrooke

Police are appealing for witnesses and information following a fatal road traffic collision on the Isle of Wight.

At about 5.10pm yesterday (Tuesday) officers were called to Mountbatten Drive, Carisbrooke, where a purple Peugeot 107 had been involved in a series of collisions with approximately 11 parked cars.

Members of the public came to the aid of the driver of the Peugeot, a 79-year-old woman from Newport, who was the only person involved in the incident.

She was taken to hospital, where she sadly died the following morning (today). Her next of kin have been informed.

A spokesperson for the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said:

"Following an initial police investigation, we would now like to call on anyone with information who has not already spoken to us to come forward.

"We would particularly like to speak to anyone with relevant dash-cam or CCTV footage of the incident.

"Anyone with information should call 101 or report online using reference number 44230052396."
