Cowes RNLI lifeboat responded to a call to assist in dealing with a fire incident aboard a 36 foot yacht, with one man aboard. in the River Medina last (Saturday) evening – to assist Bembridge coastguard and other emergency crews.
The boat was alongside a mid-river pontoon near The Folly. Having launched at 7.25pm, the lifeboat arrived to find the fire, involving a generator, had been extinguished by the man aboard.
But as a precaution the lifeboat ferried, one by one, a firefighter and a paramedic to carry out on-board checks.
The emergency personnel were then finally returned back to the shore.
The lifeboat eventually returned to its station.
