Plans to bring a rink to Yarmouth this Christmas have been put on ice.
Although last year's 'Yarmouth on Ice' event was deemed a success, organisers have said feedback suggested a real ice rink would be preferable to the artificial one previously used.
But doing so would cost four times as much, they said. An appeal was launched to find additional sponsors to fund the real rink, but to no avail.
Last year's event raised more than £26,000 for 19 Isle of Wight charities.
Santa's Grotto will be back in the town again this year, however.
It will be returning on the same night as the popular 'Carols in the Square' on Saturday, December 17.
The event will see shops open late and the whole of Yarmouth lit up once again.
