The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for the Isle of Wight - as Storm Gerrit arrives, bringing with it gusts of up to 60mph.
The warning came into force at 3am this morning and will last until later this evening, with the forecaster saying gusts on exposed stretches of coast could exceed 65mph.
As previously reported by Isle of Wight Radio, Red Funnel has already announced that it expects some disruption to its services due to the conditions (along with cancellations caused by maintenance).
We're told to expect:
- Some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely
- It’s likely that some coastal routes, sea fronts and coastal communities will be affected by spray and/or large waves
- Probably some bus and train services affected, with some journeys taking longer
- Some short term loss of power and other services is possible
- Delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges likely
