Animal Loving Skylette Litter Picking To Raise Wildheart Animal Sanctuary Bear Funds

A kind-hearted seven year-old girl is raising money for the Wildheart Animal Sanctuary's rescue bears by keeping Isle of Wight streets and parks clean.

Skylette came up with the idea after learning about Balu and Benji during a visit from the Sanctuary to her school - Gurnard Primary.

She has since been litter picking at least once a week through the summer holidays with the help of her two brothers, Hartley, aged 9, and Jobii, aged 3.

Hartley has even been dressing up as a bear to help collect money in the donation tin while on the litter picks as well.

Skylette said:

"I dont like people dropping litter, animals are in danger because of rubbish.

"All the wildlife can get injured by rubbish, it can poison them and they get tangled in it, so it's really bad.

"I Just want to protect animals and I want to help save Benji and Balu as they are treated really bad so I want to get money to help them get here".

So far the young trio have collected more than six bags of rubbish and currently raised £375 online.

Skylette's mother, Colleen, added:

"Skylette has always picked up rubbish she finds - especially fishing lines - as she worries it could hurt an animal.

"She asked me if I could get her a litter picker, and after visiting a play park in Newport that had so much rubbish in it that we left and went to a different park, she asked if she could do litter picking to get money for Benji and Balu."

You can help Skylette to raise money by donating to her Just Giving page.
