Carisbrooke And Medina College Students Embark On Brainy Bunch Festive Fundraiser

Carisbrooke and Medina College students joined forces on Friday (December 15) to raise funds in aid of The Wight Brainy Bunch charity.

The last day of the school term at Carisbrooke College saw students from the faculty take part in the Santa Dash fun run.

A total of 227 students, alongside Kat Grimes from the charity, ran in their Santa hats through the local area up to Carisbrooke Castle and back; spreading festive cheer while raising money for a good cause.

Students were rewarded for their efforts with hot chocolate, festive music and a medal upon returning to school.

Medina College then held a Santa Dance, with in excess (not to be confused with Australian band INXS) of 100 students taking part in an afternoon of festive ‘Just Dance’ action.

The energy was more infectious than a bout of Christmas sniffles, as the troop danced, again with the Santa hats adorning their (egg) noggins.

Both schools together raised more than £1,300 for The Wight Brainy Bunch, a charity that supports Island families affected by brain tumours.

Chris Williams, PE teacher, said:

“I have been blown away by the enthusiasm of the students.

"We are really proud of the amount that they have raised and I’m sure that next year we can go even bigger and better.”
