It is an exciting time for South Wight Area Youth Partnership (SWAY).
Last week the youth, and family charity heard the great news that it had received the prestigious King’s Award for Voluntary Service.
This award acknowledges the youth work and support for families with the vital input of volunteers.
These volunteers, with their breadth of life experience are so vital for the youth groups and for mentoring in schools.
SWAY offers a huge range of activities and events both on and off the Island.
The charity encourages confidence, independence and social integration in the young people and their families to volunteer in their community.
The Young Leaders’ Project nurtures them to develop healthy relationships and leadership.
SWAY has a double reason to celebrate this week. The charity was set up ten years ago to continue the youth service and has grown from its small beginnings, to today with its range and scope of opportunities.
The King’s Award is great timing to celebrate the trustees and other volunteers’ effort, which has made SWAY what it is and to look forward to the next ten years.
