Faroe Islands Named 2027 Island Games Hosts

Former Isle of Wight Island Games participants

At the Annual General Meeting of the International Island Games Association (IIGA) held in Orkney on 13 July the Faroe Islands were confirmed to be the Host Island of the 2027 Island Games.

It will be the second time for the Faroe Islands to host the Island Games after 1989.

The 21st Island Games will take place on 3–9 July 2027.

The Host Island of the 2029 Island Games will be the Isle of Man who organised the first Island Games in 1985 and then again in 2001.

The 22nd Island Games will be held on 14–20 July 2029.

Gotland, the host of the Island Games in 1999 and 2017, was confirmed as the preferred bidder for the 2031 Island Games.

Andrew Inkster, the newly elected Chairman of the IIGA, comments:

“We are delighted to see these future Host Island arrangements confirmed today, and we look forward to seeing more progress in their arrangements.

"With a number of other Member Islands also showing serious interest in becoming a Host, we are confident that our Games are
secure for the future."
