The Isle of Wight Council is once again offering free off-street parking in all its long-stay car parks in support of Small Business Saturday — which aims to support local businesses.
All long stay car parks run by the council will be free of charge between 12pm and 6pm on Saturday, 7 December.
In addition, car parks in Ventnor (enforced by the Isle of Wight Council on behalf of Ventnor Town Council — Market Street, Pound Lane and Dudley Rd) continue to be free on Saturdays, from 10am to 4pm.
Pier Square car park in Yarmouth (enforced by the council on behalf of Yarmouth Harbour Commission) will also be free all day.
Councillor Phil Jordan, council leader and Cabinet member for transport and infrastructure, said:
"We're very pleased to offer this helping hand to both businesses and shoppers in the run up to Christmas so that people can enjoy their visits to our towns with no additional costs of parking.
“In the past it has been very successful, and we encourage residents and visitors to take advantage of the offer once again this year."
Parking information is available on the council's website.
Small Business Saturday is a grassroots, non-commercial campaign, which highlights small business success and encourages consumers to 'shop local' and support small businesses in their communities.
The day itself takes place on the first Saturday of December but the campaign aims to have a lasting impact on small businesses.
On Small Business Saturday, customers across the UK go out and support all types of small businesses, online, in offices and in stores.
Many small businesses take part in the day by hosting events and offering discounts.
More information is available on the official Small Business Saturday website.
