Great Wight Bite Bringing Celebrity Chefs To Cowes This Weekend

Brand new food festival The Great Wight Bite premieres at Northwood House in Cowes this weekend (September 9 and 10).

The event will feature celebrity chefs Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall and Chris Bavin.

The weekend celebrates every part of the Island's food scene.

Visitors will be able to catch a glimpse of Michelin Star Chef Patron Robert Thompson, The Heron’s Alex Kimber and Royal Hotel’s Matt Egan.

Visitors can feast at over 80 stalls showcasing cuisines from around the world, all served up with a side order of live music and entertainment.

The unmissable event is sponsored by Isle of Wight ferry operator Red Funnel, as part of its commitment to Island community under its new ESG strategy, Changing Tides.

As title sponsor, Red Funnel is supporting the community event by providing essential travel support for all mainland equipment, including demonstration kitchens, exhibitions, stalls, and celebrities – Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall and Chris Bavin.

Speaking ahead of the inaugural Great Wight Bite, Fran Collins, CEO of Red Funnel, said:

“We’re incredibly excited to be supporting The Great Wight Bite and are pleased to be celebrating the best growers, producers, brewers, distillers, and chefs the Island has to offer.

"We are proud to be an integral part of the Isle of Wight community and support community events like this across the Island.”

With sustainability at its core, the festival will be sourcing food from the Isle of Wight to lower ‘food miles’ wherever possible.

Only recyclable materials will be allowed on site along with a huge effort to limit waste going to landfill, and visitors will be encouraged to purchase reusable pint cups with profits going to charity.
