Islanders Urged To Act Now So They Can Keep Homes Warm And Safe

Lisa Beaney, Managing Director of Green Isle of Wight, advising a client.

Island residents are being urged to take advantage of support to help keep their homes warm and safe - before it’s too late.

Funding from SGN is available to help vulnerable households with practical support, but only for a limited time.

Through the Safe and Warm Scheme, residents can access personalised energy advice, help with heating costs, and support with carbon monoxide alarms.

Lisa Beaney, Managing Director of Green Isle of Wight, which is delivering the scheme locally, said:

"We’re absolutely delighted to be delivering this project, which allows us to provide real, practical help to Islanders.

"Even though spring is approaching, we strongly encourage you to get in touch now. This scheme won’t be around forever, so now is the time to take action."

The scheme also provides advice on making homes more energy efficient, along with small but important improvements such as draught-proofing, thermal curtains, and distributing blankets and heaters.

A spokesperson for SGN added:

“We’re committed to keeping our communities safe and warm.

"By working with Green Isle of Wight through the Safe and Warm programme, we can reach even more households, offering specialist energy advice and practical support to help tackle fuel poverty.”
